Detectives investigating a sexual assault on a young girl in a Birmingham park are looking for a woman in a white van spotted nearby at the time as part of a fresh appeal for information six months after the attack. A six-year-old girl was assaulted by a boy, thought to be in his early to mid-teens, after being lured into a wooded area of Rowheath Park, Bournville, on 18 September last year, West Midlands Police said.
As the investigation into the assault hit its six-month mark, police said they want to identifying a woman with blonde hair who was driving a van that a potential suspect got into near where it happened. Police said the teenage suspect, who is thought to be at least 13 to years-old, white, with dark blonde hair, got into the van before he was driven off by the woman.
Detective Inspector Neil Hunt, from West Midlands Police's public protection unit, said: "We understand the concerns and impact this awful incident had on the Bournville community. Whoever was involved has never come forward and it's important we do all we can to try and find them as age can be no excuse.

He said they had spent time trawling CCTV, looking at forensic opportunities and speaking to people in the area, adding: "We appreciate the descriptions are still not the clearest but we're very keen to speak to the woman who was parked up in a white van and appeared to collect a teenager.
A year-old boy who was arrested at the time, and later bailed, has now been released with no further action, police said. Det Insp Hunt said police have continued to monitor the area as part of routine patrols and there have been no further reports of children being approached in the park since 18 September. A newlywed Virginia Beach couple was found gunned down in their apartmentβand police are now searching for the missing brother of one of the victims.
