CAMPING

The valley is famous for its scenic views and cold nights. If you love all those camping adventures than this beautiful valley is an ideal destination for a friend group and family as well.

TREKKING

Short trekking routes are available all over harsil. There are many trails here which will lead you to paradise. In the forest of oak and deodar trees trekking while birds are chirping it surely is a surreal experience. Many treks in Uttarkashi also pass through harsil only. You can see waterfalls, lush green hills, and pure river streams here.

The valley is famous for its unique offerings. Some of the most famous treks which go through this valley are Dayara Bugyal and Khatling Glacier. While Dayara Bugyal is famous for its lush green meadows and exquisite views and Khatling Glacier is for its below freezing temperature trek. Complete Itinerary for Harshil Valley Trek

Day 1 – Start your journey from the beautiful city of Uttarakhand Dehradun. Dehradun is around 226 km from Harsil. It is tough to find vehicle for high altitude regions at night time time so better to take this journey in morning. The 226 km long road journey is one of the most beautiful road trips you will ever have.

High tall green valleys all around, steep roads and fresh air. The transition from a polluted city to a beautiful himalayan hill station is one of the best feeling. The raod trip is around 8 to 9 hours long and hence at night one can stay at hotel so that you enjoy rest of your day tomorrow.

Day 2 Wale up early so that you do not miss the beautiful morning. The first ray of sun brings happiness and joy with him. You can hear birds chirping, pack your trekking bag and start to wander around here in Harsil.

Day 3 – Harsil is not only about being a hill station, Some of the most famous places can be explored while you are here. From Harsil one can visit the Nelong valley, Gangotri, bhairon ghati and many other places which I have mentioned below in the topic Places to visit near Harsil.

You will be happy to know that Nelong valley reopened after around 50 years for common people. After the Sino Indian war this valley was closed and the state goverment of India opened this up recently.

Day 4 – One can surely extend his or her stay here at the Valley for as long as you want. Belive me 4 days are not enough to explore this beautiful valley around. But keeping it you can drive from here and reach Dehradun by evening around 6 to 7 pm. From Dehradun you can go back to your Hometowns.

VILLAGE STAY

PLACES TO VISIT IN HARSIL

SAT TAL

Sat Tal is a group of 7 small lakes near dharali. From dharali sat tal is only 3kms. It is a beautiful trek to take from dharali to sat tal. This cluster of natural lakes looks extremley beautiful and alluring.

The trek to reach Sat tal is also amusing. You will welcomed by lush green pine forest which offers you an unique landscape. The region is rich in flora and fauna. The area is still very much unexplored and thanks to locals who have preserved this hidden beauty.

The best time to visit Sat Tal is in winter as the area is covered in snow and the area looks extremely beautiful. Just imagine the area which is covered in a white sheath of snow and you with loved ones enjoying this beautiful view. Surreal isn’t it.

DHARALI

A small village near harsil valley is Dharali. This place is picturesque itself. Dharali is 6km from harsil valley and is 650m above sea level. This hamlet is one picturesque place to enjoy even further more. Dharali is famous for its apple orchards. This little place is also famous for its Rajma cultivation too. The place is a local market for all the nearby villages.

GANGOTRI

Gangotri is 26 km from harsil and is of course very famous. Gangotri is on NH 34 and takes around 40 min from harsil to reach Gangotri. Gangotri is one of the Char Dhams of Uttarakhand and is one of the visited places by tourists and devotees from around the world. Gangotri is also famous for its adventure. One of the most famous trekking routes is via Harsil to Gangotri only.

HOW TO REACH HARSIL

Reaching by Road

Harsil valley is well connected via road. If you are starting from Delhi so you will have to go to Haridwar then Rishikesh. After reaching Rishikesh head out for Uttarkashi and then to harsil. Buses both public and private are available up to Uttarkashi. After which a shared taxi would be the best choice. Total distance from Delhi to harsil is 303 km and it would take you around 12 hours to reach harsil from Delhi.

Reaching by Train

The nearest railway station to reach this beautiful valley is Rishikesh. Rishikesh is situated only around 215 km from here. Rishikesh is a well connected railway station with trains running from big cities like Delhi and Mumbai. From this railway station, you can take a bus, car, and taxi to reach Harsil.

Reaching by Air

The nearest airport to reach Harsil is Jolly Grant airport which is around 232 km from here. Jolly grant airport is well connected to Delhi and Lucknow airports. One can take a taxi and bus from the airport to reach this beautiful valley.

BEST TIME TO VISIT HARSIL VALLEY

The best time to visit Harsil Valley is from months of April and June and from the months of Late August to December.
