TREKKING IN MANA VILLAGE

Some of the most famous trekking routes in Uttarakhand starts from Mana only. This place has 2 main trek routes which are famous among backpackers. These 2 famous treks here in the village are Mana pass one and Vasudhara fall one.

Both of these treks are adventeruos and are good for both beginner’s and experts. one is famous for its exiqusite beauty and other one for Himalayan views.

Mana to mana pass

The mountain pass between the borders of India and Tibet is mana pass. Deotal lake which the origination of Saraswati river is here in mana pass only. Mana Pass is not accessible for common civilians. If you want to go to mana pass one would have to take the special permission from the administration. Mana pass is accessible only for the army. MANA TO VASUDHARA

This trek takes you to the scenic views of the vasudhara river. The trek is relatively short and easy though being a little inclined trek. Vasudhara is a scenic waterfall that is 9 km from Badrinath temple and you can also take on this treks from Badrinath itself.

Vasudhara falls trek is only around 6 km from the beautiful Mana village. The trek is literally so beautiful that you will be surely mesmerized with its shear beauty. The initial path of the trek is easy and nice but later one’s become a bit difficult. First 2 to 3 km are very easy and is just easy walking around.

After the passing of these initial kilometer the treks becomes a bit difficult. The trek eventually becomes steep after the saraswati Mandir. It is recommended to go with Locals on this treks. The trek is short and can only be completed in around 2 hours. Mana has been designated ‘village tourism‘ by the state government of Uttarakhand. This place is good for people who want to explore the local culture and want to feel how days past in a village.

The local people of Mana are of Bhotiya tribe of Uttarakhand. The people here are cheerful and helpful. The local culture of people here is extremely rich. People are good at making winter cloths hence you can do some shopping here.

Badrinath Temple

VASUDHARA

The waterfall is 9km away from Badrinath and is around 6 km from Mana. The fall are one of the most beautiful and pretty scenic to look at. A short trek of just 2 hours would lead you towards Vasudhara.

Vasudhara falls captivate you with its beauty. The flora and fauna till the falls is beautiful. From the falls itself you are such beautiful views that just cannot be described easily.

TAPT KUND

Tapti kund is a natural water spring here in the village. The villagers believes that this tapti kund has a medicinal values. Tapt Kund is visited very heavily by visitors and people of nearby areas. Tapti kund is visited by people of other nearby districts of Uttarakhand too.

The religious value of this kund is very high. The miracle of this water is suchi that the cold Alaknanda river flows by it but the tapti is a hot kund. It surely looks and feels amazing.

NEELKANTH

The queen of Garhwal Neel Kanth peak is at an altitude of 6,597 m above sea level. From here you can see the holy temple Badrinath. This place is also famous for a very rare Brahma kamal flower.

Neel kantha peak is One alluring peak to see and visit. The literal meaning of Nilkanth is Neel = blue and kanth = throat. The Neelkanth is one of the many epithets of Lord Shiva.

According to local stories there used to be no Neelkanth mountain earlier. Earlier a route would connect the famous temples of Uttarakhand Kedarnath and Badrinath. But as the time passed by due to the sins whihc were committed by the priest, Lord Shiva got angry. Lord Shiva was very displeased and erected a very high mountain between Badrinath and Kedarnath which today we know by the name of Neelkanth.

MATA MURTI MANDIR

The Mata Murti temple is located only around 3 km from the Badrinath temple. This temple is devoted to the mother of Nar and Lord Narayan. Mata Murti temple is a very highly revered and sacred temple for Hindu people. The temple holds an annual fair in the month of August.

Situated right on the banks on the Alaknanda river, Mata murti mandir is surrounded with beautiful scenery all around. Being only around 3 kms from Mana one must visit this temple. A short and easy trek to the temple is the best possible way to reach this beautiful temple. The temple is located around beautiful valleys. While the temple is not as big as what Badrinath or other temples in Valley are still it has a lot of value.

The peace and tranquility around the temple are unmatched. You will be mesmerized to see the beauty around the temple. At this height, you can see lush green mountains and also many wild animals. You can further explore the area after visiting the temple.

BY ROAD

Mana village is connected to Haridwar via the NH-58 highway. The NH 58 highway will lead you towards Badrinath. From Delhi, you will have to leave for Haridwar and from there you could take buses for Joshimath or Badrinath. You could easily find UTC(Uttarakhand transport corp.) buses.

You can take buses from Kashmere Gate from Delhi for Haridwar. Both private and Public buses run all day long for Haridwar from this Isbt.

BY TRAIN

Haridwar is the nearest railway station from mana. The railway station is well connected to all the major stations of India like Delhi, Mumbai. Lucknow and many more. From Haridwar take a bus or taxi to Joshimath or Badrinath.

BY AIR

Jolly grant airport in Dehradun is the nearest airport from mana in Chamoli. From Dehradun, you can take a bus or taxi for Badrinath itself. Regular buses both private and public are available from Dehradun to reach Badrinath temple and then Mana.

LOCAL CULTURE AND CUISINE OF MANA VILLAGE

People of mana village are from the Bhotia tribe of Uttarakhand. People are sweet and very warm hearted. Bhotia tribe of Uttarakhand actually originates from Pithoragarh district. The people of this tribe speak Rongpa which is one of the languages of Uttarakhand. While Hindi is widely spoken and known here in the village one would have no problem in travelling around here.

The Traditional food is highly influenced by Tibetan, Nepali cuisine which is is rich in flavor. The food is high in protein and carbs so to give you enough energy for the day. But if You are having difficulties one could easily find fast noodles and paratha. Authentic Pahadi food is also available in some places. People live here in small cottages which are very well decorated. The woolen garments of mana are very popular which are made from sheep’s wool.
