Located only 12 km from the beautiful city of Mangalore Ullal beach is in the small village of Ullal. Ullal is a fishing town basically and the coast of Ullal is flanked with tall and lush casuarinas and palm trees. This gives a charming look to the already beautiful beach and village.

The local cuisine around here very delicious. There are a plethora of options both in veg and non veg options. While as you already would have guessed Ullal beach has one of the most amazing sea food. There is a nice resort name Summer Sands Beach resort which offers one of the most delicious food here in the area.
While with resorts there are many other kiosks that serve the local cuisine. From authentic Karnataka one to exotic blend with west you can find absolutely anything. The food is mouth watering with all the delicacies that is here. Be it prawns, fish, pomfrets, or shrimps the sea food is the king in Ullal beach.
Places to visit around Ullal beach
Someshwara Beach is another beach located in Ullal only. This golden beach is famous for long walks with loved ones and sunbathing. The unique feature of this beautiful beach is the presence of hidden rocks. With hidden rocks, current along the coasts makes it unsuitable for swimming.
The name of the beach comes from the Someshwara temple which is here. The temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and it is believed by locals that rocks dotting the beach is due to Lord Shiva himself.
With the combination of history, culture, and beauty this place is surely a must visit. Also do not forget to eat the lovely sea food here too. Someshwara beach offers very delicious food.
St. Sebastian Church
St. Sebastian Church in Ullal is more than 100 years old church in the area. Bishop Paul Perini Sj constitired Bendur Parish in August 1914. Then this site and land to build the church were bought in 1918.
The architecture of this church is really impressive. The church is very well maintained and neat too. There is a magnificent chapel and an amazing banquet hall for weddings. While many times this church has been renovated but still it seems magical as new.
Queen Abbakka’s Fort at Ranipura
Rani Abbakka was the first Tuluva Queen of Ullal who fought the Portuguese in the 16th century. She was a warrior from the Chowta dynasty who ruled over Karnataka. For her bravery, she is known as the Abhaya rani or the fearless queen.
You can even see the fort from the Someshwara temple in Ullal. The fort takes you back in the great history.
Best Time To Visit Ullal Beach
The best time to visit Ullal Beach is during winter months from November to February. As in winters, the sun is gentle and the temperature is not that high. Generally, the temperature ranges from 20 to 30 degrees Celsius at this time. At this time you can do all the adventurous activities easily too.
While in Summers you can expect temperature ranging from 25 to even some time 38 degrees celsius. The sun is soaring high and the season is quite humid. In this unbearable heat, the beach generally is empty and not at all crowded.
Monsoon does bring benefits to it. The temperature again become cool. But being a coastal area the place receives some of the most dangerous calamities. Be sure to check the weather again and again during monsoon if you really wish to explore the beach.
How to reach Ullal Beach
As Ullal is in Mangalore so it is well connected due to Mangalore. Mangalore being one of the biggest cities in India is very well connected to all the major cities of India.
Reaching by air
The nearest and the biggest airport from here is the Mangalore airport. Mangalore airport is one of the biggest airports is very well connected to all the major cities like Banglore, Mumbai, Chennai and many more. The airport is around 30 km from Mangalore. You can take a taxi from the airport to reach the beach.
Reaching by rail
The nearest railway station from Ullal beach is the Mangalore central railway station. Like the airport, this railway station is one of the biggest railway stations which is very well connected to all the major cities. The railway station is just 13 km away from the beach. You can reach the beach from the railway station by taking a taxi.
Reaching by road
Mangalore is well connected with major cities like Bangalore and Mumbai, so reaching Ullal is quite easy. There are around three highways that pass through the Mangalore city. The highway namely is NH 17, NH 48, and NH 13 which pass through the city.
Also, you can take a bus to reach Mangalore. Mangalore is very well connected with the private and public bus system. Also, there is a bus station in Ullal itself. The bus station is only 1 km away from the main village of Ullal. There is another bus station namely Thokkottu bus stand which lies only 4 kilometers away.
