Contact Admin. Our rooms had a verandah where we had tea in the mornings, overlooking the ocean. Rooms were comfortable and air conditioned but bathroom provisions such as soap were minimal. The dining area has overhead fans in old colonial style. The staff were helpful and pleasant. There are quite a few places of interest around that you could visit.
We paid approximately Rs. I think it is well worth a visit. The restaurant at the Rest House has been one of my favourite places for lunch ever since I went there about 20 years ago, and my opinion is still the same.
I went here for lunch again, after a very long time, and was not disappointed. They serve traditional food, clean and tasty, buffet style. The service is also good. When you are here, check out the old fashioned fan on the ceiling. And I was so happy to see it looking so good The food was fabulous Sri lankan only. If you want proper Matara cooking then this is the place! Reasonably priced and easy to find. I reserved this place for my wedding on this November. At first the menu looked fine and price was reasonable.
I was in New Zealand and my family made an advance payment on behalf of me. When I came back to SL for the wedding I went there to make the full payment. Then they told me that I had to find my own guy for light decorations. Apparently the Rest house does not provide any lights at all for the wedding even though mine was a night function. Not only that but also they told me to that I had to hire my own electric generator for lights and that they would not provide electricity from the hotel.
But I said ok and went with it. When my friends decorated the place on the event day, with our own lights along with a our own hired generator, they tried their best to be jerks by not even providing a ladder.
